The First NEWSIMR&D Conference held
On December 16, 2012, the conference "Strategic and Normative Framework of the Republic of Serbia for Responding to Contemporary Security" was held at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Security Studies, as part of the "NEWSIMR&D" project, which is funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. The conference aimed to introduce the initial tasks of the project, which focused on analyzing the strategic and normative framework of Serbia's response to security threats, such as terrorism.
The conference began with an opening presentation from Professor Dr. Vladimir N. Cvetković, who is the dean of the Faculty of Security and a member of the project team. In his talk, he discussed sovereignty and justice in the context of new security challenges, including the vulnerability of public institutions, illegal migration, and identity threats. The conference was divided into two panels, the first of which covered strategic documents for countering modern security risks. The second panel presented case studies related to project tasks, with a total of 13 works presented.
The conference findings will be published in the Proceedings of the Scientific Meeting, which will be available to the public.
